Tanzania is the foremost African safari destination. Selous Game Reserve covers 21,000 miles² (55,000 km²) which makes it four times bigger than the Serengeti. The reserve is named after English conservationist, hunter and explorer – Frederick Courtney Selous. The reserve spreads across vast expanses of undulating grassy woodlands and plains, onto rocky volcanic protrusions. The underground heat is strong enough to warm up water springs that gush out from the core of the earth here and there.

The earth in the Rufiji River region has been cut through and sculptured by the Rufiji River. Its waters sustain life through the park. The place is excellent for game viewing as it brings animals along the water network of tributaries, canals and by lakes and laguna. This is further enhanced during the dry season when one can sight impressive gatherings.

Day 1
06h15 – Departure from Hotel

08h00 – Flight from Zanzibar to Selous Stieglers air strip
– Welcome Tea & Coffee upon arrival

09h00 – Guided Game drive with your ranger
– Provided picnic basket
– Boat safari on the river (time to be fixed upon arrival at the Camp)
– Back to the camp in the late afternoon for dinner

Day 2
– Early Breakfast & guide drive for half a day or River safari if not done in the afternoon.
– Picnic Lunch on the way to reach the airstrip.
– 13h00 (charter flight) – Return to Zanzibar
– Latest by 17h00 – Return to Hotel

Recommendations
Not to forget in your luggage: sturdy walking shoes and safari appropriate clothing, hat or cap; swimming costune, sunscreen and insect repellent. A good Camera.
